Vote Laporte for Union Secretary

Transparency. Trust. Teamwork:

A new Generation of Union Leadership

Connor Laporte is running to become our YCEA Union Secretary.

Vote before Monday 3/31 @ 4 PM

Connor has worked in Ypsilanti schools since 2018, beginning with EMU Bright Futures and eventually serving as acting site coordinator at YCHS. Since 2022, he has taught English Language Development for Multilingual Learners at YCHS and has represented the building as a YCEA rep since Fall 2023. In that role, he has supported members through a range of issues and helped uncover and resolve broader concerns affecting the entire union.

Connor is the son of a public school teacher and a public university professor. He earned his BA from the University of Michigan with a triple major in Political Science, History, and German, including a year abroad at the University of Freiburg. He later completed U-M’s SecMAC program, earning a Master’s degree and certification in Social Studies and ESL. Outside of education, Connor has trained volunteers for political campaigns including Warren, Sanders, Biden, and Ossoff.

As secretary, he hopes to strengthen transparency, communication, and member involvement across YCEA.
